Vision

Our vision is to establish a high-quality preschool in DeKalb County that prioritizes the education and overall well-being of every child. We focus on utilizing developmentally appropriate and effective approaches that support the emotional, physical, academic, and social development of the child. As a church-affiliated preschool, we also incorporate the spiritual development of the child in a manner that aligns with our Christian values while respecting others' beliefs.

Philosophy

St. Mark’s Early Learners embraces the rich philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori who believed in a child’s own natural desire to learn. She believed that young children have a universal ability to absorb knowledge from their surroundings just by living. She also understood that a child’s mind is most receptive during these early years and that each child learns and grows at an individual rate.

In order to be calm and happy, we believe children need to explore and discover. Our Montessorienvironment, both inside and outside, allows the child to move, touch, manipulate, and investigate. Our trained teachers, using unique Montessori materials, create an atmosphere where children feel secure and respected and are allowed to test themselves, take initiative, and grow independently.

We are a faith-based school; and as such, we allow, support, and incorporate Christian education as a part of our program. We utilize a Montessori-based approach, Godly Play, to help children interact with the stories of the Bible and the traditions of the Christian faith in a way that allows them to explore and discover.
